The Scourge of Global News Bias
The Scourge
American President Donald Trump has made no bones about his disdain for mainstream global news organizations. In his mind, the vast majority of such mainstream news organizations are peddling lies and fake news.
It’s very easy to see where he comes from because if you are somehow unpopular or less favored in the eyes of the global media establishment, you will have more than your fair share of negative news items.
Now, negative news cannot be avoided. There are certain things that are just negative. That’s a fact of life. If you’re going to report the facts, and the facts don’t make a particular place or organization look good, that’s where the chips fall.
Facts are facts. If things aren’t looking good, then they are not looking good. There’s nothing anybody can do about that. But unfortunately, unpleasant news is actually just a tiny fraction of the news being reported. A lot of what would otherwise be neutral or even good news is twisted with a negative slant.
We’re not quite sure where this comes from. In fact, we’re beside ourselves as to why certain topics on the internet get twisted. This is why it’s really important to understand the scourge of global news bias.
Understand that these journalists often come from the same schools or read the same textbooks or subscribe to the same political philosophy. A lot of the global news elite are liberals. They believe in a certain political ideology and people who contradict that ideology or pose serious challenges to it are automatically the enemy. Even if they are not willfully working against such persons, their liberal bias can and do come to the surface and produce malignant effects.
The scourge of fake global news is just one symptom. There seems to be an unstated religion or ideological affinity among global news practitioners. Regardless of what they look like, regardless of the parts of the world they come from, and regardless of their language and educational attainment, it seems that they share the same ideological consistency.
People who go against that ideology, people who are proclaimed as enemies of such ideological biases are instantly transformed into whipping boys. Regardless of how intentional the journalist wants to bash the subject matter, it comes out negative.
You have to understand how this works. You have to understand how it flows into each other and how all these organizations support each other based on their editorial lines. They may seem like they’re competing with each other because, hey, let’s face it, the global news industry is a business. But underlying this business seems to be some sort of general agreement as to ideological bias.
You have to make your voice heard. You have to stand up against this. Otherwise, you’re going to keep taking it over and over again. Ignorance is not bliss. Do yourself a big favor and call people out if you see their biases manifest itself.
